LAW ENFORCEMENT ORGANIZATION TO FILE A FORMAL COMPLAINT WITH THE NEW YORK CITY HUMAN RIGHTS COMMISSION AND CALLS FOR CITY COUNCIL HEARING ON ILLEGAL NYPD STOP AND FRISK POLICY

Press Briefing: 100 Blacks in Law Enforcement Who Care will file a formal complaint with the New York City Human Rights Commission following the reported order by NYPD Capt. Michael Vanieri to stop and/or frisk all black males at various subway stations in Brooklyn. 100 Blacks in Law Enforcement Who Care spokesperson, Marq Claxton states, “There must be an immediate response to these allegations of racial profiling. The government cannot condone or ignore this serious threat to constitutional guarantees.” In addition to the Human Rights Commission complaint, there is a call for New York City Council Hearings. 100 Blacks in Law Enforcement Who Care co-founder, Noel Leader states, “The City Council has an obligation to obtain all the facts regarding this illegal stop and frisk policy. Sworn testimony must be taken and subpoenas must be issued to obtain all the data to establish the extent to which individual’s civil rights were violated. The City Council’s civil rights committee should convene an immediate hearing of this issue.”
