FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Press Briefing:  100 Blacks in Law Enforcement Who Care is supporting a Black female Detective, in her filing of an Equal Employment Opportunity complaint against an NYPD supervisor.  The Sergeant, assigned to the Queens Narcotics Division, twice referred to the Detective as a “nappy headed ho” (an apparent reference to Don Imus’ comments about the Rutgers University female basketball team) Subsequent to the initial racist/sexist comments, the same supervisor made a perverse sexual reference in the presence of the same female Detective and other Narcotics Division personnel.  100 Blacks in Law Enforcement Who Care co-founder Marq Claxton states, “The NYPD must take immediate action against this supervisor. His racist and sexist comments must be met with swift and severe punishment.  The ‘Imus mentality’ cannot be allowed to flourish in the agency that is charged with enforcing laws fairly throughout the diverse communities of New York”
