Press Briefing: 100 Blacks in Law Enforcement Who Care is calling for a criminal investigation into the death threats made against New York City Council member Charles Barron by registered members of the ‘NYPD Rant’ message board. Two separate posts on the message board encouraged the shooting of Council member Barron stating, “someone needs to put a bullet in that guy’s head and be done with it” as well as “someone needs to put a bullet in his medula oblangata(sic)” The ‘NYPD Rant’ message board is the most popular message board for current and former Police Officers in the NYPD. 100 Blacks in Law Enforcement Who Care co-founder Noel Leader states, “For a direct and explicit death threat to be made on a Police Officer message board mandates investigation and prosecution of the perpetrator(s). Because of the strong possibility that the authors of these death threats are Police Officers (SUPASECRETSQUIRREL and MidNightTrooper) we are calling on the NYPD Internal Affairs Bureau to conduct an investigation and positively identify both user names for criminal/departmental prosecution.”
