  For Immediate Release

Press Briefing:  In light of the off duty Police involved shooting death of Jayson Tirado, 100 Blacks in Law Enforcement Who Care is calling on the New York State Legislature to create a Penal Law charge that would make it a crime for a Police Officer to discharge his/her firearm without making immediate notification to the appropriate authorities.   100 Blacks in Law Enforcement Who Care co-founder Noel Leader states, “Currently, the New York State Penal Law does not specifically address the requirement of a Police Officer to immediately report discharging his/her firearm.  A Police Officer has an ethical and moral obligation to assume full responsibility for the discharge of his/her firearm.”
