Law Enforcement organizations call for the removal of Christine Quinn from her position as Speaker of the New York City Council pending the conclusion of the ongoing City and Federal probes into the fraudulent diversion of City funds

                                                                                        FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PRESS STATEMENT:  100 Blacks in Law Enforcement Who Care and the National Latino Officers Association are calling for an emergency hearing by the New York City Council’s Standards and Ethics Committee to determine the extent of the admitted diversion of City funds to non-existent ‘not for profit organizations’

The Standards and Ethics Committee should determine the following:

1.      The names of organizations that received funding from the fraudulent entities along with the dates of the disbursements and the amounts that each received

2.      The City Council sponsor of each receiving organization (fraudulent or legitimate)

3.      Any and all documentation from the fraudulent entities requesting City funding

4.      Any and all documentation submitted by Christine Quinn to her staff regarding diverting City funds to  fraudulent entities

5.      A complete listing of all past fraudulent entities funded by past City Council speakers

New York City Council speaker, Christine Quinn has not only violated the New York City Charter’s guidelines regarding the City budget, but she has allowed cronyism and political payoff to deprive legitimate organizations access to discretionary City funding.  100 Blacks in Law Enforcement Who Care co-founder, Marq Claxton states: “Christine Quinn should be removed as Council speaker pending the outcome of the criminal investigation.  In addition, the City Council’s Standards and Ethics Committee should conduct immediate hearings to decide whether the Speaker and/or her staff violated or ignored ethical standards and the City Charter.  Christine Quinn cannot pass the buck on fiscal accountability” National Latino Officers Association Executive Chairman, Anthony Miranda states: “Communities throughout the city have been deprived the services provided by legitimate, hardworking, underfunded organizations while the Speaker set aside millions of dollars in a political piggy-bank.  Budgetary integrity requires full disclosure and accountability”
